Newsflash! The Big East Conference stinks in football. It’s garbage.

West Virginia, the lone ranked team from the conference experienced an embarrassing loss at home to Louisville 38-35 on Saturday.

The Big East Conference is lousy, at best, and teams keep proving that.

Pittsburgh was supposed to be a pretty solid team this season, with Todd Graham and his “high-octane” offense. How is 4-4 looking? How is that “high-octane” offense?

Garbage.

But wait, South Florida did upset Notre Dame in the first game of the season. That was pretty big for the conference. It must have been a victory that they used to inspire the rest of their season.

Not quite.

They lost three straight games including a 44-17 loss at Pittsburgh.

Syracuse upset West Virginia on October 21, 49-23. That was a pretty big victory initializing their legitimacy for contending in 2011, right?

Not really.

The Orange are just another disappointing team with disappointing results. They have lost four games on the season including a loss to 4-5 Connecticut on Saturday.

Louisville may actually be the team to beat at 5-4, 3-1 in the Big East, as sad as that sounds. They only lost to Florida International and Marshall this year.

Pathetic.

What an incredible season this has been for the Big East. Not only are they losing teams left and right but their football conference has been unbelievably poor. It’s embarrassing.

Just think about it: Who will represent the conference in a BCS bowl game? Cincinnati is 6-1, 2-0 in the Big East but how good are they?

They aren’t any good.

Look at their lone loss of the season – at Tennessee. The Volunteers are 3-5 on the season but they defeated the Bearcats by 22 points in September.

Give me a break.

All eight teams are still in contention for the conference championship. You could write down each school on a piece of paper, mix it in a hat and pull a name and that should be their champion.

They might as well. It would be more enticing than what they’re showing on the field.
