Every Fall TV season, a big deal is made about what shows to watch and which will get canceled soon. I usually watch the pilot and decide if it’s worth pursuing. Sometimes (cough, WHITNEY, cough) it’s easy to tell in the first two minutes that a show is god-awful. Other times, not so much. Especially if I like the premise of the show.
Currently, I can’t figure out what to do with Terra Nova. I’m watching it (because Dinosaurs are awesome) but I’m not sure if it’s going anywhere. Which leads into my point……..
What to do with a show that needs to be taken off life support? I watched every episode of Entourage. The last two seasons were excruciatingly bad television. Yet, I kept watching because I had watched all before. I can’t bring myself to fold my hand when I have the majority of my chips in the pot. More specifically, as I watched The Office this week I realized that it is my new Entourage. I don’t know if it’s the fact that they’ve run out of plot, the characters are tired or if it’s just overshadowed now by the greatness that is Parks and Recreation before it, but it’s a chore to watch. I need help on knowing when to walk away.
If only there was an easy way to end a TV relationship. It’s kinda like when you draft a player high in fantasy football that is a total bust, you hold onto him because it’s your bust usually and if someone wants to trade you price him too high. Moving on is difficult.
This week is sponsored by Inglorious Basterds. After a week of kissing our sister, it’s time to get serious and crack some skulls and/or brand some teams out there. I see no reason not to go undefeated this week. Also, how great is Brad Pitt’s accent in that movie, right?
TAMPA BAY +9 @ New Orleans – What am I missing? Tampa Bay already beat New Orleans this year. New Orleans just lost to St. Louis. Other than it being in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, I don’t see the advantage. Also the Bucs get L. Blount back after their bye. I’ll be shocked if this doesn’t cover. Shocked I tell you.
WASHINGTON +3.5 vs San Francisco – Yes, the Redskins are pretty bad right now. However, I’m betting they have one good game in them. San Francisco seems a good target since they’ve covered alot of lines recently and are traveling to the East Coast as a favorite. This is a textbook case to take the home dog, I just don’t like giving John Beck my money.
HOUSTON – 10.5 vs Cleveland – It’s a favorite! After last week’s favorite filled column, I’m down to just the Texans somehow. I think this won’t be close obviously. Not sure who is going to score for Cleveland other than possibly the return game. Lay the wood.
NY JETS +1 @ Buffalo – Buying in on the hype that the Jets will make some sort of a run. A Buffalo team that has lost momentum seems like a good place to step up and get a divisional road win. Don’t make me look dumb Mark Sanchez.
SAN DIEGO +5.5 vs Green Bay – Yea, I know this looks bad, but hear me out. Norv Turner is a pretty terrible coach and squanders talent. No wait, let me try again. The Chargers best running back is probably going to miss this game. No better? How about San Diego can’t win a big game versus an elite team this year. One last try, Green Bay has been destroying everyone they play.
INDIANAPOLIS +7 vs Atlanta – I know it’s the Colts but seriously, who are the Falcons to be a touchdown favorite over anyone? When they finally step up on the road, then I’ll give them some respect. To show that I’m serious, I’m giving my money to Curtis Painter. If that doesn’t mean business, I don’t know what does.
CHICAGO/PHILADELPHIA OVER 47 – A Monday Night over! Finally, a game the thousands of you that read this can get behind. I see both teams hitting the 20s at least so my addition tells me that would cover. I just traded for DeSean Jackson so needs to be involved in at least two scores.
SUICIDE PICK: Had to sweat out Baltimore last week, but with Flacco it’s always all good the neighborhood. This week we are steamrolling to victory with DALLAS over the visiting Seahawks. I hate Dallas as much as you do but this is our best chance to use them this year. It’s not like Romo to choke a game away, we’ll be fine. Good luck. Previous - HOU, PIT, SD, TAMPA, NYG, GB, NO
