Will Muschamp Takes Over at Auburn University

Dumont WalkerSenior Analyst IDecember 12, 2008

According to sources coming out of Mobile, Ala., Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has inked a deal that will send him to Auburn where he will assume the head coaching duties.

While Muschamp, and people close to him, are still denying that a deal is in the works, sources close to Auburn have stated that an announcement regrading the hiring could be made as early as Friday evening.

Muschamp's name has been circulated as Auburn's top choice to replace Tommy Tuberville, who was fired a few weeks ago.

However, Muschamp was recently tagged as the heir apparent to the Texas coaching job when Mack Brown decides to step down, which could be affect his decision regarding Auburn.

Muschamp was the Defensive Coordinator at Auburn in 2007, before moving to Texas.
