What was the last big decision you made?

Who to start on your fantasy football team? Taco Bell or McDonald’s? Jessica Alba or Jessica Biel (because you totally have a shot with either)? How about a shot at winning the most storied rivalry in college football history or a shot at winning the world’s most prestigious scholarship?

This is the debate currently waging in the mind of Patrick Witt. You see, Witt is the starting quarterback for the Yale Bulldogs—and a rather good one at that. The senior is currently third in the Ivy League with 1,393 passing yards and has led Yale to a 4-3 overall record.

The dilemma (If you can call it that) for Witt is that his Bulldogs play their rivals, the Harvard Crimson, on November 19th. This also happens to be the same day as his interview for the coveted Rhodes Scholarship. So now, the Bulldogs’ all-time completion record holder must make the biggest decision of his young life.

“But it’s just a game,” you say.

Wrong!

Harvard versus Yale is arguably the biggest rivalry in the history of collegiate sports. There is a reason why it is simply referred to as “The Game.” It is exactly that—not just any game. The Game.

To make the decision even harder, this year’s matchup could be the biggest in years. If both the Bulldogs and the Crimson win their next two games, the winner of The Game will become the Ivy League Champion.

So, come that fateful Saturday, what will be Witt’s most impressive stat: 11 touchdowns or 3.91 grade point average?

Even if Witt loses The Game or doesn’t receive the scholarship, he will still be one of the champions of this college football season. After all, how many people can say they’ve been in such an extraordinary situation? The list is shorter than Kim Kardashian’s marriage.

Seeing how Yale has not won the Ivy League or beaten Harvard since 2006, it is obvious how important Witt’s last shot at gridiron glory is and—despite being a school full of Will Huntings and Spocks—even Yale students couldn’t come up with a way to transport Witt from Georgia to Connecticut in time for The Game.

So far, Witt has been unable to choose between his two equally appealing options, but when he does, it will be one of the most compelling sports stories of the year.

It’s time for LeBron James to move over, because Patrick Witt will soon be making the biggest Decision in all of sports.
