As much as a woman normally seems to come out of a marriage as the winner, when it comes to reality star Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries, that simply isn't the case.

Sure, a prenuptial agreement keeps Kim from losing any of her ample fortune, and she is probably going to keep the $2 million, 20.5-carat diamond engagement ring that Humphries bought here as well. Despite that, Humphries comes away from this failed marriage in great shape.

Prior to his involvement with Kardashian, even some of the NBA's biggest fans hadn't really heard of Humphries. The high-profile relationship put the former New Jersey Net and current free agent into the public eye, however, and gave him some name recognition.

Depending upon how morally upstanding he is, Humphries would seem to be in line to make a nice chunk of change off of this divorce. Gossip outlets like TMZ and E! will undoubtedly want the dirt regarding the breakup, and Humphries could provide that at a cost, of course.

Seeing as the NBA is still embroiled in a lockout, very few players are getting mainstream recognition at this point. In fact, the most newsworthy stars at this point may be LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kris Humphries. As odd as that sounds, it's hard to argue with the eye test as Humphries can be seen everywhere in terms of media right now.

Perhaps most importantly, regardless of whose fault the divorce may have actually been, Humphries certainly doesn't come out looking like the bad guy. Kardashian has had countless failed endeavors in the past, so the perception may be that she is incapable of having a long-lasting relationship.

It has been speculated that one of the biggest factors in the split was Kim's refusal to move to Humphries' hometown of Chaska, Minnesota, where Humphries reportedly wanted the couple to settle down and start to raise a family.

While some may say that Humphries was being unrealistic in that expectation, you can't blame him for wanting to maintain a somewhat normal existence. Kim once again looks bad in this situation, though, because her refusal to leave the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles make her seem superficial.

Ultimately, Humphries very well could have been the reason for the divorce, but from the outside looking in, that doesn't appear to be the case. He may be down one $2 million ring, but what he picked up in publicity and star power could prove to be priceless.
