The 30 Sexiest Hockey WAGs

Some girls go for the sensitive types. You know, the ones that like poetry and long walks on the beach. Then there are the hockey WAGs. They like a different bread of man.

Hockey WAGs like their men tough and toothless. Whether it be from getting into a fight on the ice or taking a puck to the face, these bruised and battered athletes have made it known that they are the toughest guys around.

Here are the 30 women who have dated, married and, in many cases, later divorced them. Enjoy.

30. Tara Reid

She dated Sergei Fedorov for a bit before snapping back into reality. Reid has since turned into a train wreck after once assuming the role as the girl next door in American pop culture.

Federov has an impressive dating record, but he hasn’t seemed to find that right girl to settle down with. I even laughed at that one.

29. Kim Alexis

She is the husband of 22-year hockey veteran-turned-broadcaster Ron Duguay. Alexis is a model/actress and yada, yada, yada.

The hockey WAG was much more of a model than an actress, but somehow the two go hand in hand, no matter how much talent they actually have.

28. Rachel Hunter

She was with two hockey players: Sean Avery and Jarret Stoll. Avery was nothing but a fling, while Stoll called off their wedding only seven weeks before the nuptials were to take place.

Hunter has since recovered, but lesson learned: Stay away from hockey players. 

27. Candace Cameron Bure

You all may know her from watching her grow up as D.J. Tanner on Full House. But believe it or not, she is no longer a little kid, and it is OK to like to look at her.

She married the less popular Bure brother, Valeri Bure, and they now have three kids. 

26. Janet Jones

Jones married “The Great One,” Wayne Gretzky, in 1988, and they have stayed together ever since. Many blamed her for Gretzky’s trade to Los Angeles, where she worked as an actress.

Both she and Gretzky claimed this to be false, but then again, just look at her. She looks the like the type that has the strong power of persuasion. 

25. Jessica Welch

The 35-year-old Richard Zednick is without a job or a wife. Welch and the Slovak hockey player wed in 2005 but were divorced by 2009.

Welch is the type of actress who is in everything and memorable for nothing. Her claim to fame, as far as I’m concerned, is an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark. I watched that as a kid. Now she is in my Bleacher Report list; life is coming full circle.

24. Piritta Hannula

How do you follow being the first runner-up in Miss Finland 2003? How about marrying Finish hockey player Niklas Hagman?

Hannula has not done much recognizable work in the United States, but she is well known in her home country of Finland. That being said, she has made it to another Bleacher Report list, so she must be doing something right.

23. Hilary Duff

Remember the days when Duff used to be on Disney channel and we never thought she was going to grow up. Well, she has grown up alright, and she's married Canadian hockey player Mike Comrie.

At only 24 years old, Duff has a long future ahead of her. Maybe she’ll stop doing kid movies…eh, probably not.

22. Terri Welles

Welles is a former Playboy centerfold as a flight attendant (which she was at the time). She achieved the honor of Playmate of the Year in 1981.

She married prolific scorer Charlie Simmer in 1981 (right after the playmate of the year win…coincidence?). They were divorced by 1986 but not before having a child.

21. Emma Andersson

Henrik Zetterberg’s wife, Andersson is a Swedish singer and television personality. She made her name on the Swedish version of survivor (which must be even more unbearable to watch than our version).

They got married in July 2010 and live in Detroit. I’ve heard that Detroit is the Stockholm of the West.

20. Tia Carrere

She was one of Tie Domi’s mistresses and one of the main reasons for Domi’s divorce from his wife (it even said it in the divorce papers).

Don’t worry, she got plenty of fame from it. Though at one point in her career she turned down Baywatch, she ended up doing a spread in Maxim—all is still right in the world. 

19. Gabrielle Velasquez

Apparently, winning the Stanley Cup makes you desirable or something like that. Velasquez is Jonathan Toews’ girlfriend and a total bombshell.

It doesn’t appear that she is much of a celebrity yet, but when she is, we’ll let you know. Right now, I’m sure she is content being the girlfriend of an NHL star.

18. Keshia Chante

The Canadian recording artist is dating Ray Emery, a goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks.

He appeared in one of her music videos, “Test Drive," which as we know is the ultimate sign of love in the 21st century.

17. Amy McCarthy

She is the sister of the actually famous Jenny McCarthy and wife to the un-famous Dan Hinote. He had a 12-year NHL career before retiring in 2010 when he turned to coaching.

Amy has done her fair share of mediocre acting, but she is more famous for her well-known entourage.

16. Anna Kournikova

We all know Kournikova for one reason or another. Some of us are fans of tennis, while some just prefer to look at her in magazines.

Say what you will about the former athlete turned trainer/spokesperson/girl we look at in pictures, but she has remained in the spotlight without winning anything. Her claim to fame in hockey was her relationships with Pavel Bure and Sergei Fedorov, two talented scorers who were also linked to her romantically.

She married Fedorov for a short period of time, but you can see how that turned out. 

15. Gena Lee Nolin

Nolin the typical woman that is so good- looking, you will buy whatever she is selling. This is what made her a regular on The Price is Right and Baywatch; the Baywatch part I assume has something to do with her running in slow motion.

She married NHL player Cale Hulse in 2004 and they now have three children together.

14. Ashley Leggat

The Canadian is known for her roles in Life with Derek and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. I know I am not playing to my audience at all, but I got to report what I see.

She is married to former Maple Leafs player Jeremy Williams, now of EC Red Bull Salzburg, the heart and soul of the Austrian league. She is an actress, singer and dancer (because, apparently, everyone is a triple threat now).

13. Willa Ford

The wife of Mike Modano is somewhat of Renaissance woman. She is a singer, songwriter, dancer, model and TV personality.

Some of her well-known appearances are Dancing with the Stars, Playboy and as host of The Ultimate Fighter. She has really made a name for herself and God, is she gorgeous. Mike, you got yourself a good girl.

12. Rebecca Seidenberg

Her husband is Dennis Seidenberg of the world champion Boston Bruins. While he is German, she is as American as they come.

Mrs. Seidenberg is not a famous singer or actress, and she's not even a model. As far as we can tell, she is your run-of-the-mill mother and wife who raises the kids. It’s a pleasant surprise, I must say.

11. Melanie Collins

She dated hockey player Scottie Upshall for a bit in 2009 but now makes her name doing broadcasting for the Big Ten Network.

Collins is a budding star in the industry, and in time might become, dare I say it, the next Erin Andrews. Stay tuned because we might have the next great on our hands.

10. Andrea Veresova

She is Jaromir Jagr's ex-girlfriend from when they dated from 2000 to 2003. I believe this was after the time that he got over his mullet stage, making it more understandable.

After going through a bunch of her pictures, it still does confuse me. She is a brilliant model and he is, well…a good hockey player who is rather unfortunate-looking.

9. Petra Volakova

Patrick Elias might be winding down his career, but at least he has this to go home to at night.

You may not be familiar with her work, but Volkova has an official IMDB page. She is Czech, so don’t expect to know too much about her, but I promise, she has done some sort of television and/or movies because IMDB doesn’t lie, people.

8. Izabella Scorupco

She was married to Polish hockey player Mariusz Czerkawski (say that 10 time fast) before splitting up in 1998 after two years of marriage.

A little-known fact that is often overlooked is that she is a Bond girl!!! That’s right, she played Natalya Simonova in the 1995 film Goldeneye. If that won’t make you fall in love with her, I don’t know what will.

7. Carrie Underwood

The country pop star could have had any guy in the word. Instead, she chose a guy who is going lose his teeth in a fight one day.

Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants. Underwood’s husband, Mike Fisher, is a member of the Nashville Predators and the subject of envy for every one of his teammates.

6. Noureen DeWulf

She married Buffalo Sabres star goalie Ryan Miller this September after he proved that he could carry the entire team on his back. She is hoping that this translates to being a good husband.

DeWulf is a fairly successful actress, having stared in awfully-reviewed romantic comedies and low-budget spoofs. Marrying an All-Star is sure to raise her stock in the acting community. Wait, sorry, she married a hockey player, that doesn’t count.

5. Kelly Carlson

Domi strikes again! This time it is more of an official, less cheating way, though. The Nip/Tuck star dated Tie Domi a few years back in a relationship that was bound to fail.

She has been in numerous television series and movies, but none more famous that her gig on the FX drama.

4. Elisha Cuthbert

She dated both Sean Avery and Dion Phaneuf, leading to Avery’s brilliant remarks on how many NHL players date his former girlfriends. He went on to call them his “sloppy seconds."

Cuthbert is a beautiful woman and a talented actress, so the fact that she was with Sean Avery in the first place is baffling. That being said, she is still an all-time hockey WAG who will be associated with these comments for a long time.

3. Amanda Vanderpool

She was Ladislav Šmíd’s girlfriend after they met while she was a cheerleader for the Anaheim Ducks. After a short time together, they broke up.

Who knew that a girl you met on a road trip would end up not being the love of your life. Vanderpool got back on her feet quickly and took up an education in media. She proved herself to be a natural in front of the camera and now does movie premiers, amongst other things.

2. Veronika Varekova

Somehow, Petr Nedved let this beautiful supermodel slip through his hands. The two married in 2004 but were separated by 2006, citing the fact that he played on the West Coast while she lived in NYC.

Since breaking up, Varekova has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and has taken a liking to wildlife.

…and by wildlife, we mean animals that live in the wild, not the lifestyle. The single life has been good to her.

1. Angelica Bridges

She was married to NHL defenseman Sheldon Souray and had two kids with him from 2003 to 2007. Since then, the two have gone their separate ways and have not reunited since.

Bridges is a gorgeous women who has posed for playboy, amongst other photo shoots. She is the lead singer in a pop band called Strawberry Blond, which hasn’t brought her to national recognition yet. No surprises here, but all the power to her.
