Running Backs

Javon Ringer

The time has come for Javon Ringer to take over in the Titans running game as Chris Johnson continues to look like a fraud on the field. Who knows, maybe Johnson has an injury that the Titans aren’t talking about, but he clearly runs without passion and refuses to lower a shoulder on any defender who comes his way.

That won’t cut it and we’ve now come to the point where the Titans coaching staff is confident with using Ringer, if Johnson continues to not have the “hot hand” on a weekly basis. Consider Ringer a flex play for this week, and the better running back to start weekly, until Johnson starts to look like a starting running back again.

Taiwan Jones

With Darren McFadden no sure thing to play this week, Taiwan Jones is just one Michael Bush ailment away from being the starting back in Oakland. That could happen as Bush has a tendency for injury, and if Jones gets an opportunity to touch the football 12 or more times, he would blow up for a nice game against the Broncos. A deep pickup for sure, but a name to keep an eye on for at least bench depth should McFadden’s injury continue to set him back.

Tashard Choice

Mike Shanahan is at it again, as his running backs have failed to do much in recent weeks, and he’s now added Tashard Choice after the Cowboys released him, late last week. Don’t be surprised if Choice gets some touches in the coming weeks, as Roy Helu and Ryan Torain have failed to do much.

That said, Choice is probably only worth pickup in deep leagues as fantasy owners continue to be mystified by Shanahan and his crazy roster decisions on a moment to moment basis.

Wide Receivers

Greg Salas

The Rams came back to life last week against the Cardinals, but rookie possession receiver Greg Salas has been playing well since coming off the bye week. Salas was active in the Rams passing attack early on, and it appears he will be a respectable receiver to hold on fantasy squads moving forward as the Rams have a favorable schedule down the stretch.

Salas also received positive news on Monday as Sam Bradford was seen walking around the Rams facilities without a boot. Maybe Bradford misses this week, but he should be back after that.

Ben Obomanu

A gameday scratch to continued health problems for Mike Williams allowed Ben Obomanu to start opposite Sidney Rice. Obomanu put up a respectable game going for over 100 yards receiving as the Seahawks played from behind. Expect more of the same as the Cowboys are sure to light up the score board after a bad loss to the Eagles last week.

Jabar Gaffney

With Fred Davis walking around in a boot on Monday, someone has to be the team top target in the passing game, and it looks like Jabar Gaffney is the man. Start him if you're desperate, but he may already be gone in your league, as he was talked about as a waiver addition bye fantasy annalists last week.

Team Defenses

Falcons Defense @ Colts

Time to pickup the defense playing against the Colts weekly and this week the Falcons is the group to target. Curtis Painter has only regressed through the season, and it’s no surprise as it was easy to see that he buckles when pressure is applied. John Abraham and Ray Edwards should do some damage in this one.

Rams Defense @ Cardinals

Coming off an impressive win against the Saints, the Rams defense suddenly looks like the group many expected them to be coming into the season. With Kevin Kolb uncertain to play with a turf toe and Beanie Wells laboring through a knee injury, this should be a good matchup if you’re in need of defensive help this week.
