WWE News: Former WWE Star Offered a Big Movie Role

Step aside, Rock; a new former star is stepping into the fray of Hollywood.

Dave Batista, or simply Batista, has been offered a role in a new Vin Diesel flick called Riddick, as reported by several sites, including Wrestlezone.com.

It is the continuation of the Chronicles of Riddick series that Diesel has been a part of over the past few years.

The previous two films, Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick, had different levels of success.

Pitch Black would make double its original budget back in movie gross, while Chronicles of Riddick barely matched its much larger budget. Both were considered cult classics, as they would make up a large amount of money in DVD sales.

Critics would give mixed reviews to Pitch Black and absolutely pan Chronicles of Riddick. Personally, I love Pitch Black, and I did not understand a thing that happened in Chronicles.

The movie is believed to be a possible hit which would make the movie possibly a huge breakout role for Batista, who has only had TV roles up to this point, with his very first serious Hollywood movie role being released in a year from now called The Man with the Iron Fists (Wrong Side of Town cannot be considered a true Hollywood movie role).

If both movies have success, Batista could become one of the few stars to truly make it big in Hollywood.

The only troubling aspect is that the movie was reported by TMZ.com last week to be shut down due to financial problems within the production company. The fact that Batista was offered the role after this report would seem to suggest that the movie is not in as much trouble as previously thought.

Only time will tell.
