Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce from New Jersey Nets' Kris Humphries

If Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian can't make it, what hope is there for the rest of us?
In a "shocking" report, Ryan Seacrest is telling us that Kim has filed for divorce due to "irreconcilable differences." Granted, I would have guessed the over/under on this marriage's duration would have been less than a year, but two months? That's a joke!
I am far from an expert on Hollywood matters, and I am writing this solely to pay homage to Humphries for carrying my fantasy basketball team last year. I was a Humphries' fan before it became in vogue!
I feel bad for Humphries for two reasons:
- According to the same source, Kardashian had a prenuptial agreement in place before the marriage hit troubled waters—savvy move, Kim. Lord knows she's worth a lot more than Big Hump will ever be.
- Secondly, she got a ring that would make Rose from Titanic blush—reportedly a 20.5 carat behemoth worth $2 million!
Granted, Humphries' rebounding numbers are sure to be there, with Brook Lopez averaging a pitiful 6.0 rebounds per game last year, so he should be in line for a decent-sized contract when the lockout is over (he is a free agent). However, $2 million is no joke for a guy who has been a journeyman his entire career.
Hopefully, Hump's numbers don't take a nosedive as a result of this—averaging a double-double last year is nothing to sneeze at.
Sure, it was with the New Jersey Nets, but with Sasha Vujacic able to fill up the stat sheet at any moment, it is impressive that Humphries was able to average 10 points per game.
Maybe Sasha can give Humphries some pointers about hanging on to a rich, gorgeous wife if the matter should ever come up again—"The Machine" is married to Maria Sharapova, after all.
