Daily Haze: Week 9 Waiver Wire Adds
Noticed a lot of low-scoring efforts in my fantasy leagues this week. Injuries and bye weeks continue to wreak havoc on fantasy rosters.
Fantasy owners need to keep navigating the bye week schedule for a few more weeks, then rosters should return to full strength. Here are some adds from the waiver wire who could help in Week 9:
Christian Ponder, Vikings [236-1]
Another solid effort from the rookie quarterback.
Javon Ringer, Titans [14-60; 5-42]
Looks like RBBC in Tennessee with Chris Johnson and Ringer going forward.
Lance Ball, Broncos [6-63; 1-4]
With Willis McGahee out, there is some opportunity here for Ball. Been solid in relief this season.
Donald Brown, Colts [10-33-1; 1-1]
Brown got a lot of work in come-from-behind mode, but the Colts play a lot of that these days.
Antonio Brown/Emmanuel Sanders, Steelers
Both had solid days against the Patriots. Brown got in the end zone. Emerging receivers, need Hines Ward to miss more time.
Greg Salas, Rams [5-47]
This Rams’ offense is going to be interesting when Sam Bradford gets back.
Titus Young, Lions [4-66-1]
Touchdown came off a blown coverage, but that is going to happen when Calvin Johnson is on the field drawing all the attention.
Scott Chandler, Bills [2-35-2]
All he does is catches touchdowns. So he could give you a goose egg.
Ed Dickson, Ravens [6-46]
Still getting a lot of looks from Joe Flacco. Third option in the passing game behind Anquan Boldin and Ray Rice.
Heath Miller, Steelers [7-85]
Most of it came in the first quarter and it could have been a match-up thing. Buyer beware.
Here are today’s great reads:
- Chris Johnson was supposed to break out of his year-long slump in Week 8 against the Colts. Well, it did not happen. So Javon Ringer came in the game, took half of his carries, and now fantasy owners have a full-blown RBBC in Tennessee. [SI.com]
- Tim Tebow and the Broncos had an awful showing at home against Detroit on Sunday in a blow-out loss. But it is going to take more than a blow-out to sack Tebow’s fantasy value. Even in the embarrassing loss, Tebow salvaged an on-par fantasy day for a quarterback. Until he gets benched, Tebow is a borderline starting fantasy QB every week. [Shutdown Corner]
