"Hockey players are the sweatiest creatures on the planet."

Those are the words of John Catliff, president of Canadian sports clothing company Firstar.

Many around the sports world would agree with Catliff. Anyone who has ever smelled a hockey bag or who has been in a locker room after the game knows exactly what he is talking about.

As the pinnacle of hockey, the NHL is the king of perspiration. Here are the league's sweatiest players.

Ryan Kesler

Those around the league that have seen Ryan Kesler after the game have said he comes into the locker room completely drenched.

Russ Courtnall

With a name like Russ, perspiration should be expected. Courtnall definitely didn't disappoint in that department.

Dany Heatley

Dany Heatley is an appropriate name for this hockey player. One can tell he definitely feels the heat when he plays.

Brendan Morrison

The equipment managers never enjoyed packing up Brendan Morrison's stuff. He epitomized what it means to be drenched.

Tie Domi

Tie Domi was one of the biggest agitators in the game. Apparently, getting under people's skin is a lot of hard work, as Domi's jersey can attest.

Donald Brashear

Donald Brashear never got much ice time, but it didn't matter. Just a single shift got Brashear covered in sweat.

Ryan Malone

Ryan Malone is another guy that doesn't take much to sweat. He's always covered in post-game interviews.

Roman Hamrlik

As one would expect, this big, gritty defenseman is dripping by the middle of the game.

Phil Esposito

In Phi Esposito's book, he describes how bad he would sweat during hockey games. Rashes were always a concern for him.

Mario Lemieux

Mario Lemieux is a big guy. It's no secret that big guys sweat a lot. Super Mario definitely fit the billing here.

Drew Doughty

The University of Guelph conducted a study on hockey players and dehydration and found that nearly one-third of all hockey players suffer from dehydration because of how much they sweat.

One of the players they tested was Drew Doughty.

Dave Andreychuk

Dave Andreychuk made a career at camping out in front of the net and taking punishment. This work isn't easy as was proven by his drenched equipment.

Ron Duguay

Ron Duguay was quite an icon both on and off of the ice. With all of that hair, it is no wonder why he sweat so much.

Tiger Williams

Tiger Williams was known for reeking havoc on the ice. Creating chaos was a pretty grueling task by the looks of him after games.

Eric Lindros

Eric Lindros may have had a short career, but he made sure to perspire as much as possible when he was on the ice.

Gary Roberts

Gary Roberts was a bit of a pest when he played. All that antagonizing sure worked up a sweat.

Zdeno Chara

The bigger they are...the more they sweat, apparently. This larger-than-life athlete also perspires more than the average human being.

Todd Bertuzzi

In this picture, Henrik Zetterberg is probably thinking, "C'mon, man, get away from me—you stink." Todd Bertuzzi's equipment is not a nice smell at the end of the game.

Anyone who has ever put on the pads knows. A goalie could go the whole game without even facing a shot and still be drenched by the game's end.
