When the World Series comes to a close, the offseason ramps up in short order. Soon we will have the amazing rumor mill known as the Winter Meetings to pique our interest.

For now, we take all of the major league scraps left ion the floor and see what it all means. Many of the biggest names in the sport are primed to test the free-agency market. This week we get some insight on where players like Carlos Zambrano and David Ortiz may end up a few months from now.

We are a couple weeks away from the real meat of trade rumors being bandied about. That doesn’t mean we don’t have a certain slugger from the Chicago Cubs that may be sent off to the first taker soon.

Let’s delve into some of the recent hot-stove speculation from the land of hardball this week. As we speculate, one thing seems clear—the New York Yankees still have the deepest pockets in all of baseball, and the Rangers are right behind them. It must be nice to throw money at all your problems. I know the rest of the league would like that same set of solutions.
