Every team went into the summer with the intention of making their roster better by signing free agents. Some franchises were able to target and acquire players from their wish list. However, they should have been more careful about what they wished for.

What originally looked like a great addition has turned to be a less-than-desired pickup for some teams in the NHL.

Here are Tomas Kaberle and the most regrettable signings of the offseason.

Carolina Hurricanes: Thomas Kaberle

After inking Thomas Kaberle to a three-year deal, the Carolina Hurricanes felt that they had reeled in one of the bigger catches of the free agency period.

Unfortunately for them, he hasn't played to expectations. He has just two assists (no goals) and is a minus four in 11 games. He is part of the reason that the Hurricanes have a minus-seven goal differential.

Columbus Blue Jackets: James Wisniewksi

The Columbus Blue Jackets have gotten off to a horrendous start this season. The fact that their big offseason acquisitions have been playing dividends doesn't help matters.

Not only is Jeff Carter out with a fractured foot, James Wisniewski has also been in and out of the lineup because of a suspension and an injury of his own.

If the Blue Jackets are to turn things around, they'll need to have these guys dressed on a nightly basis and get more out of them.

Philadelphia Flyers: Ilya Bryzgalov

Another trade and sign that hasn't gone according to plan is the Ilya Bryzgalov signing in Philadelphia. Flyers fans thought that the team's goaltending issues had been resolved once they landed the Russian goalie.

However, his numbers have been anything but spectacular. Thus far, He's 4-4-1 with a 3.18 GAA and an .880 save percentage. Out of all of the new acquisitions, this one was thought to be the most impactful one, but that hasn't been the case so far.

Buffalo Sabres: Ville Leino

The opinions of hose who questioned the Buffalo Sabres signing Ville Leino to a six-year, $27 million deal have been validated by the forward's poor production.

In 10 games, he has just a goal and an assist and is a minus four. Even though Leino clearly isn't the answer the Sabres are looking for at center, he should still be performing much better than this.

Florida Panthers: Scottie Upshall

The Florida Panthers made a lot of changes to their roster this summer in hopes of becoming a competitive team. While some of these lineup augmentations have paid off, others have not.

One newly acquired player who has under performed to this point is Scottie Upshall. In 10 games he has just one goal and one assist and is a minus one.

Montreal Canadiens: Erik Cole

The Montreal Canadiens are off to a slow start this season and confounding that problem is the sub-par play of Erik Cole.

Erik Cole has two goals and two assists and is a minus one through 11 games with the Habs. If the club doesn't turn things around quickly, expect to see some significant changes.

St. Louis Blues: Jamie Langenbrunner

The St. Louis Blues signed Jamie Langenbrunner to add some veteran leadership and a little bit of productivity to their team.

While the leadership may be there, the on-ice performance hasn't been. Through 11 games Langenbrunner hasn't scored and has four assists. However, what is even more telling is his minus-one rating. He is known to be a good two-way player but hasn't shown it so far.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Tim Connolly

Well, what a surprise. Tim Connolly has been out of the lineup with injury troubles. Unfortunately, Connolly hasn't been able to escape old demons by starting off fresh north of the border.

He has been a good player, when he's in the lineup. However, this is the same old story for the maligned center.

Florida Panthers: Ed Jovanovski

Another signing that hasn't gone exactly as planned for the Florida Panthers has been bringing in Ed Jovanovski.

Jovanovski has always contributed more than what the stat sheet can tell. However, his minus-four rating should be a concern as it appears he has lost a step.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Steve Sullivan

The Pittsburgh Penguins have gotten off to a good start to spite the performance of Steve Sullivan. His best days are clearly behind him.

He's got no goals, three assists and is a minus two in 13 games with the Pens.
