UFC 137 Results: Roy Nelson Slims Down and Looks Very Impressive

Roy Nelson tipped the scales at over 250 pounds at the UFC 137 weigh-ins. Then he came out at UFC 137 and actually looked slimmer than normal.

Nelson's trademark gut? Almost gone. Instead of being fat, he is now just "pudgy."

Then he came in and beat Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic in a third-round TKO victory and proceeded to pull a "Sonnen" and called out the winner of Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.

Now, Nelson won't get that title shot, obviously, but he was impressive with his newfound body.

The slimmed-down Nelson took Cro Cop down and held him there impressively and eventually broke the UFC vet.

Standing up he looked good as well. His cardio seems to have gotten better, but by the third round the left hand of Nelson was dropping while he held up his right hand.

Nelson has grown leaps and bounds since his UFC 130 loss to Frank Mir, where he looked like a disaster. His newfound weight looked good, and I'm assuming from now on he'll be even slimmer.

At age 35, Nelson is still fighting at his full potential, but he is falling short of the upper echelon of the UFC heavyweight division.

Nelson was very impressive tonight and showed he is in fact taking his career seriously now since his loss to Mir. But all this work could be too late.
