College Football Predictions: Can Clemson Stay Undefeated vs. Georgia Tech?
Game: Clemson at Georgia Tech
Time: 8:00 ET
Line: Clemson -3.5
Two weeks ago, this game looked like it could be a match up of a pair of undefeated Top 10 teams. Now it stands as a match up between an undefeated Clemson squad against a Georgia Tech team that has dropped its past two ballgames.
Yet, this still remains a potential roadblock for the Tigers, who sit No.5 in the BCS rankings. Clemson hasn’t won at Georgia Tech since 2003, and Paul Johnson’s flexbone option offense has given the Tigers fits.
Speaking of that triple option, it has been clicking this season. The Yellow Jackets average 321.1 rushing yards per game, best in the ACC and fifth-best nationally. They’re second in the ACC in scoring and total offense (38.3 ppg, 478.5 ypg), behind only Clemson in both categories.
Following a great start though, the Yellow Jackets offense has been sputtering as of late as the big play has been missing from their attack.
Clemson has made a habit of falling behind teams and rallying in the second half. They can't keep allowing that trend to continue or they will get burned.
This will be only the third time all season in which the Tigers are playing a game away from home, which troubles me if I;m laying the points.
Prediction: It's very difficult to bet against Tajh Boyd, but I'm going with the upset here. Georgia Tech 31 Clemson 30
