WWE Raw: 7 Ways Raw Can Be Great with CM Punk as Champ

1 of 8

According to a report last month from PW Insider (h/t WrestleZone), CM Punk will soon be our new WWE Champion.

I for one am absolutely thrilled about the possibility.

    Why?

Because the presence of CM Punk as champion will make the whole show better.

I'm not just saying that the show will be better without Alberto Del Rio or John Cena holding the gold.

CM Punk having that gold in hand is the best thing for the company right now.

    Why?

Well, here are seven reasons why.

New WWE Championship Belt?

This is a minor change, but it means so much.

CM Punk offered the tantalizing idea of finally changing the WWE Belt when he gets a hold of it.

He hasn't yet, but I am still waiting.

I see something awesome and closer to the old WWE Title, though I wouldn't be averse to a massive overall with a Straightedge or Best in the World sign on the belt.

Like Stone Cold's belt, only in a CM Punk style.

It is time to get rid of that horrible spinner belt.

Unpredictablility in the Main Event

CM Punk will not allow his matches to become a formula.

    No Superhero comebacks.

Punk will give us quality matches and some unique controversy.

I can just see all the cool storylines that can come out of it all with an unpredictable champion and his pipebomb.

Raw will be a must-watch every week.

Possible Challengers

By the time John Cena ended his 12th World Title reign, it was obvious he had faced nearly every combination of main event talent on the roster.

He has faced everyone from The Miz to R-Truth to HHH to Alberto Del Rio to CM Punk, and that is just looking at the current roster.

CM Punk, on the other hand, is a guy who still has a ton of time to feud with guys.

The Miz, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler, a returning Chris Jericho or Undertaker, even Triple H are still possibilities for a long lasting title feud.

Those individuals in full on feuds with CM Punk with the title involved are incredibly inciting options.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Sure, Alberto Del Rio is a new champion, but he is also a heel who will never be given a long reign.

Unlike Del Rio though, Punk has the chance to get a long and legitimate title reign as a face.

It will be great to see him usher in brand new main event title matches that do not always involve John Cena.

Almost everyone here has to be happy for that.

New people in the title race.

John Cena feuding without a title.

What more could you ask for?

Power in the Hands of a Rebel

Anyone else absolutely ecstatic about what kind of power Punk will have with the title in hand?

    I know I am.

    Think about it.

He can boss around officials and insult anyone he wants, and he will do it in the main event with the lights focused on him.

I would love to see him face down Vince McMahon again this time with that title firmly in his hands.

The Promos

7 of 8

What will he say with the WWE Title around his waist?

    Anything and everything.

No WWE Champion would have more potential to excite the crowd at every turn and captivate every member of the WWE Universe with a mic.

I can just imagine the promo following his WWE title win.

    It will all be awesome!

WWE Title Credibility

8 of 8

Nothing kills a title more than short title reigns with weaker champions, and there have been plenty of those lately.

With CM Punk as champion, we will have a champion who truly works the main event.

He will wrestle the show stealers and grab all of the attention.

The difference between that now versus in the future is that he would be doing it with gold around his waste.

No man in WWE could bring more of a fresh and credible feel to a championship that has been on the decline than CM Punk.
