It is Friday and should be happy hour right now, but World Wrestling Entertainment has failed the Divas division BIG TIME today.
Maryse has been released from her contract.
Yes, you read correctly.
The company saw fit to let go one of the most beautiful and talented ladies just as she was about to make her return to the ring after undergoing hernia surgery this past summer.
Here is the official word on WWE.com:
"WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Raw Diva Maryse as of today, Oct. 28, 2011. WWE wishes Maryse the best in all of her future endeavors."
Is it me or is the company seriously going insane in their hirings and firings? They already let go Gail Kim and Melina in August...what next? The Sisters of Destruction too?
At least there is one person who seems to be fine with this...Maryse herself. She wrote via Twitter:
"I'M OUT and sexier than ever! Thanks to all my fans, colleagues and @WWE Universe. I'm Happy, I'm Smiling, and FREE, now its time to get Naughty ............BE SEXY"
Whether this release was her request is still a mystery, but I cannot help but think this is a huge mistake as she was the one I had penned to enter a feud with Beth Phoenix over the Divas championship.
Is Maryse's release a HUGE Miz-Take?
What happens now? Why the hell is this one gone, and the Bella escorts are still employed? It makes me so angry. The minute we seem to have some newfound hope for the division, the WWE pulls a fast one on us.
REAL TALK! (Franc Parler pour toi, Maryse)
If they touch The Miz (her apparent boyfriend and one of RAW's most valuable characters) I will...I WILL...throw eggs in Vince McMahon's windows!!
One thing comes to my mind, though...could this be an act? Is Maryse part of the whole conspiracy storyline? Why do I smell John Laurinaitis' foul hands in this whole mess?
This angers and saddens me heavily to be honest. She was in my top five characters. We come from the same place, too; I am insulted like you wouldn't believe. It is a slap in the face.
She had been around since 2006 and won the Divas championship on two occasions and is still the longest reigning champion to date. I could swear she would be the first to "three-peat."
I want to take the time to wish her the best of luck and bounce back quickly from this, and if it was HER decision, then I support her and will remain a devoted fan for the remainder of her career. Maybe Hollywood can pick her up for a nice little role.
The sky is the limit, ma belle Maryse. Reach for the stars! You are numéro un in my book.
