In My Book... New York Mets Become NL East Favorite Due To K-Rod's Arrival

The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies are the second biggest rivalry in baseball. The Phillies won the World Series in 2008, but they may not even make it back to the playoffs in 2009.

The Mets have one of the best teams in baseball, until September. This season they will be able to win those "lost games' with the addition of elite closer Francisco Rodriguez.

The rotation needs help still, but with Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, and John Maine as the top three, the front of the rotation is elite. but the back tow spots will be in need of some help, and a lot of it.

The Mets biggest trading chip is Daniel Murphy, the next Ken Griffey Jr. Some teams looking for outfield help and that have young pitching includes the Angels, Mariners, Phillies, Cubs, Rays, and Giants.

The Mets lineup is currently the following:

C. Brian Schneider

1B. Carlos Delgado

2B. Luis Castillo

SS. Jose Reyes

3B. David Wright

LF. Daniel Murphy

CF. Carlos Beltran

RF. Ryan Church

I see very few weak spots.

Expect the New York Mets to be in the playoffs finally in 2009.
