Kim Kardashian: NBA Star Danilo Gallinari Boxes Out Kim K
If you thought that Kim Kardashian's life on television was completely staged, you haven't seen or heard anything yet. It turns out that E!, the network that devotes far too many hours each week to the Kardashian family, could be pimping out their most profitable asset to any and all NBA players in major markets.
According to a report on WetPaint.com, last fall the network originally tried to set Kim up with Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari. Of course, when they tried to do it he was a member of the New York Knicks.
"According to our source, both E! and Kim were interested in having her date a big New York athlete for the debut season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and the Knicks were their first choice...Gallinari — then 22 to Kim’s 30 — was told that such a move would be good for his career and that he would garner lots of media exposure. Gallinari declined, saying he would be happy to meet Kim but wasn't interested in dating or being a reality-show star."
Fortunately, Kim was able to get over the heartache of rejection quickly and began a relationship with Kris Humphries. The pair got married in August, but have been going through a rough patch of late. Maybe the network told them that they need to create some drama, so they concocted all of these problems.
You wonder how much in-depth research E! actually does when it asks athletes in big markets if they want to go out with Kim.
What would have happened if she and Gallinari were dating when he got traded to Denver? They could have created an entire episode around their break-up or how they would find a way to make a long-distance relationship work.
Of course, Humphries wasn't exactly a lock to stay in a big New York-area market because he was in the last year of his contract when the two got together.
Gallinari deserves a ton of credit, because he could have become a household name if he had started a relationship with Kim—assuming the report is true, and knowing the way reality television works it seems reasonable—but he didn't. That kind of life wasn't for him.
Looking at the state of Kim's marriage to Kris Humphries, it would appear that Gallinari made the right decision.
Galllinari has restored some of my faith in humanity by spurning the fame of being on Keeping Up With The Kardashians to keep his integrity.
