In Other News...Cleveland Indians Close to a New Closer

Shanan H.Analyst IDecember 9, 2008

Indians need a closer, desperately. Most likely, they were going to sign one. The only question is: who?

The Indians are extremely close to throwing a deal at veteran Kerry Wood. He is a good, steady, vet, who could really solidify the Indians' 'pen.

There were many options for the Indians, including, but not limited to, signing Trevor Hoffman, Chad Cordero, or Brian Fuentes.

Wood was the best option.

He adds some age to a relatively young 'pen, he has playoff experience, and is normally very reliable. He had a very good '08, and hopefully for the Indians he will repeat his year.

Only time will tell for Cleveland. Was Wood best?
