Bernd Schuster was sacked on Tuesday after a miserable run of form that saw Real Madrid slip to fifth in the league and get knocked out of the Copa del Rey by third-tier Real Union Irun. Juande Ramos has been tabbed as the new man in charge.
The outgoing German coach won the La Liga title in his first campaign last season after replacing Fabio Capello.
Ramos was sacked by Spurs in October after collecting only two points from eight Premier League games this season.
Although he had a miserable time in England, Ramos is still highly regarded in Spain after guiding Sevilla to two consecutive UEFA Cup titles and taking them into the Champions League before moving to White Hart Lane in 2007.
