Packing For Vegas: College Basketball Picks Dec. 7

Andrew KahnCorrespondent IDecember 7, 2008

I didn't watch yesterday's Notre Dame-Ohio State game, but I saw that ND's Luke Harangody played and led the team in scoring. So why Notre Dame failed to cover—or even win the game outright—is still a mystery to me. Tomorrow I'll have more time to look into that game and determine if I was just unlucky or if there was an error in my assessment.

Either way, Rhode Island was a winner, only losing to Providence by one. So I was 1-1 for the day, and am looking to do better than that today, as there are a couple of spreads I really like.

Oklahoma (-6.5) vs. Tulsa is one of them. OU beat the Golden Hurricane by nearly 30 last season, and even though this game is in Tulsa, I don't see the No. 6 Sooners having a problem here. Tulsa has already lost three games, and hasn't played a team of the same caliber as Oklahoma. I expect Blake Griffin and the Sooners to win by at least 12.

I like another road favorite, as well, the Maryland Terrapins (-4) at George Washington. Maryland already has a couple quality wins over two good Big Ten teams while GW has only played four games and lost to the only BCS-conference school it played (Auburn). In all honesty, I don't know too much about GW this year, but I'd be surprised if they stay within five of the Terps.

Today's picks: Oklahoma -6.5; 1 unit

                      Maryland -4; 2 units

Season Record: 15-8 (65%); +12.2 units
