Florida Wins, They are In. Texas sits, They are out.

First of all I would like to tell you that I am not a Texas Longhorn fan. With that being said I would also like you to know that Texas is getting a bum wrap, no, not in the Big 12 championship game, but in the national title game.

Here is my bitch.

Texas lost to Texas Tech. Texas Tech was ranked seventh at the time and has only one loss. That is the Longhorn’s only loss. Florida lost to Ole Miss. Ole Miss finished with an 8-4 record. That is Florida’s only loss.

Now as a college football fan I understand that there is no such thing as a good loss, but even a Florida fan has to agree that losing to a one loss Texas Tech team is a better loss then losing to a four loss Ole Miss team.

Now assuming Florida beat Alabama in the SEC title game and Oklahoma beats Missouri in the Big Twelve title game it is all but guaranteed that Florida will meet Oklahoma in the BCS national Championship game.

Florida a team that lost to a four loss team leapfrogs Texas. The same Texas, that beat Oklahoma during the season. While that scenario is bad enough, how about if Missouri upsets Oklahoma and Alabama beats Florida. Welcome to the BCS Championship game USC.

I know there are a lot of what if’s that can be looked at in a college football season. The anti playoff establishment says that’s what makes college football such a great sport. I say that it is not fair for a college football team to go out and lay their heart and souls on the field for an entire season and then have to watch as teams ranked currently behind, leap frog them at the end of the year.

To Texas and their fans I say, “What if there was a playoff system.” That, what if, we will never know.
