Predicting the Valero Alamo Bowl Participants: Week 8

Vance PennCorrespondent IOctober 17, 2011

When the Valero Alamo Bowl kicks off at 8pm on December 29th in the Alamodome in San Antonio the game will feature the Big XII No. 2 or 3 team versus the Pac 12 No. 2 team.

From the Pac 12, Arizona State appears to be the odds on favorite for the Alamo Bowl.

In the Big XII, the picture is much less clear with three teams still in the hunt for the conference title as well as a bid to a BCS bowl.

Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State all sit atop the conference with undefeated records. However, all three teams have yet to play each other. So in the next 2-3 weeks things should become much more clear.

An outside team to keep an eye on is Texas. If any of the top three teams are still in the national title hunt Texas, only an hour up the road from San Antonio, may well welcome an Alamo Bowl bid.

As of now we'll forecast: Kansas State vs Arizona State

But, stay tuned!
