Several teams have gotten off to an electric start so far this season, proving to be among the top programs in the land.

But a few teams won't be in the top eight by the end of the season, and a lot of it has to do with their remaining schedules.

Stanford is sitting pretty for the second season in a row behind star quarterback Andrew Luck, but they have a tough test on Nov. 12.

Here are three teams that won't make the top eight by the end of the regular season.

Stanford (6-0)

Stanford could conceivably lose one game all season and still get dropped from the rankings.

That's because Stanford is bound to face No. 10 Oregon on Nov. 12 and I believe Oregon will win that game with a healthy LaMichael James and Darron Thomas.

Stanford is No. 8 in college football now, but a fall to an Oregon team that would be in the top five if it wasn't for a loss to LSU will ultimately drop Stanford out of the top eight.

Oklahoma State (6-0)

What separates Oklahoma State from teams such as LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma and Wisconsin is the team's defense.

OK State racks up points behind quarterback Brandon Weeden and receiver Justin Blackmon, but the Cowboys don't have the defense to defeat Oklahoma in their final game of the regular season on Dec. 3.

That will drop them out of the top eight.

Arkansas (5-1)

Junior quarterback Tyler Wilson has stepped in admirably for the departed Ryan Mallett at Arkansas, but date with No. 1 LSU will ultimately keep the No. 9 Razorbacks from entering the top eight of the AP poll.

The Razorbacks are a very good team this season, actually surpassing expectations, but they aren't an elite team like LSU or the sole team that has defeated them so far, Alabama.
