According to the Destroyers Fan Club page on Facebook, they received word from Las Vegas Locos head coach Jim Fassel that the United Football League has canceled the rest of the regular season.

The report stated that the league will play their championship game this Friday at the Sportsplex in Virginia Beach. The championship game will be played between the Virginia Destroyers and the Las Vegas Locos.

The cancellation of the rest of the season is not a good sign for the league. They already had to suspend operations in Hartford due to financial problems and it's safe to assume that this decision had the same reasoning behind it.

The four-team league only played eight games in their third season. There were still four games scheduled to be played—two for each team. Las Vegas, the league's two-time defending champions, finished with only one home game all year.

The Omaha Nighthawks and the Sacramento Mountain Lions both finished the year with a 1-3 record. The two teams that will meet in the championship game on Friday each finished with a 3-1 record.

While the championship game matchup is exciting, the cancellation of the final two weeks is not. It could very well be the end of the UFL. Canceling games midway through the season is never a good sign for a professional league.
