Contract Season = Career Season: An Evaluation Of The Relationship

Every year there is a few players who have career years. You know what I mean, like Adrian Beltre in 2004, Manny Ramirez in 2008 or even CC Sabathia in 2008. I could go on and on of naming people who had career years, but everyone of them is a free agent after there career year.

I'm not saying that Melvin Mora is going to bat .360 with 50 home runs in 2009 but I am saying that guys like Adrian Beltre, Bengie Molina, Vladimir Guerrero, and Brian Roberts probably will.

In 2004 Adrian Beltre had a monstrous year batting .334 and 48 home runs. He then finished second in MVP voting to Barry Bonds.

After the 2009 season there are a lot of guys who will be filing for free agency. Here's a short list:

Adam LaRoche

Mark DeRosa

Brian Roberts
