Hello, Bleacher Report!
2011 has been an exciting year so far and it has seen some exciting face/heel turns. Today I want to take the time to list the top five biggest turns of 2011. These turns made the list because they brought something to WWE programming that made an impact. At the end, feel free to leave a comment!
Just sit back, relax and enjoy!
Mark Henry was destroying every superstar in his path. On the July 29th edition of Smackdown, Sheamus came out saying that he would stand up to him and fight him. While his face turn occurred gradually for weeks after this, fans saw the first glimpse on this night.
Was the turn for the better? You tell me.
At Extreme Rules, Christian captured the World Title in what was a very special moment. On Friday Night Smackdown, Christian was forced to defend it against new roster member Randy Orton.
In what was a spectacular match, Christian came up short and lost the title. For weeks, this turn was just waiting to happen. On this night, the heel turn finally arrived.
Before 2011, R Truth was the rapping superstar who many believed would be nothing more then a mid-carder for life. Two weeks before Extreme Rules, R Truth was celebrating the fact that he became the No. 1 contender.
All of a sudden, John Morrison came out and tricked him into putting that contendership on the line. John Morrison defeated R Truth. After R Truth lost, he went ballistic.
This turn would be for the better as R Truth has become not only an exciting character, but he's now one of the main characters in the hottest storylines of the year.
Before this turn, Mark Henry was nothing but a jobber. It's sad to see a 15-year veteran in the WWE be forced to watch new superstars surpass him and challenge for the top titles.
At the WWE draft, Mark Henry completely laid out John Cena and Christian within a 30-second period.
Mark Henry then went to Smackdown where he would take out Big Show, Kane, Great Khali and Randy Orton to become your World Heavyweight Champion.
Was there any doubt this would be No. 1? Well, snap out of it!
This turn was the greatest turn I have seen in a long time, and I think the majority of people can agree. Sure, anybody could make an impact by taking someone out. CM Punk did something so much more than that.
He was free to talk about everything that he was fed up with. In one epic shoot, he not only gained the respect from fans he deserved, but he solidified himself as a main event star.
