Junichi Tazawa Signs With Boston Red Sox
Junichi Tazawa is finally on the Boston Red Sox. He has decided to follow fellow country man Dasuke Matzuzaka in the Boston Red Sox pitching staff.
After he decided to not be involved in Japan's draft where he was expected to be the top pick, many teams jumped out of their chairs to try and sign him. If he would have been drafted and played in Japan's leagues he would have had to wait seven years before he could play in the MLB.
With the signing of Tazawa, Boston has just yet again stocked their young pitching. With the Red Sox in need of a catcher might they trade Tazawa or trade Clay Buchholz? Very small chance of them trading Tazawa, but a Clay Buchholz trade to the Rangers for a catcher might make sense.
The Boston rotation is now the following:
sp. Josh Beckett
sp. Dasuke Matzuzaka
sp. Jon Lester
sp. Bartolo Colon
sp. Clay Bucholtz/ Junichi Tazawa
Junichi Tazawa declined offers from the Ranger and the Mariners. A decline to the Mariners was a surprise since the Mariners have Kenji Johjima, Ichiro Suzuki, and Japanese ownership.
