My Memories Of The Montreal Canadiens

I’ve been a fan of the Habs since I was five years old. As a kid I grew up watching Lemaire, Robinson, Lafleur, and Gainey, to name a few. I remember watching La Soirée du Hockey with my parents and asking, "Is Jacques Lemaire playing tonight?"

As I got older new faces made their way to Montreal, like Carbonneau, Nilan, Naslund, and Tremblay. I remember the team winning the two Stanley Cups in 1986 and 1993, and the disappointment i felt in 1989 when we lost in the finals against the Calgary Flames

The first live game I attended was a playoff game against the Quebec Nordiques at the Montreal Forum. Over the years I saw them play against Bruins, Rangers, Blue Jackets, and the Trashers.

I never did have a chance to go watch a game with my dad, but that changed thanks to my close friend, on December 4, 2007. On that day, my dad and I went to our first game together against the Detroit Red Wings. It was the Original Six Salute game. Even though the Habs lost that game, the time I spent with my dad will be memories I’ll keep with me forever.

The festivities for 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens have started. The past and the present will pass the torch to the future for another 100 years.
