It takes a lot to be a successful hockey team in this new NHL. An intelligent hockey sense and a good winning system of play are two keys to making a strong presence in the game today.
For the bruins, the transfer of players from Providence hasn’t affected the winning trend they are accustomed to. Players like Matt Hunwick, a new addition to this Boston club at the end of last season, have contributed to this team's success with 12 games played and a total of eight points.
Vladimir Sobotka, who was making himself known in Boston last season, was recently sent back to Providence because he got no points in his first five games. But, he could be back sometime this season.
Recently the Bruins have lost two key defensemen—Aaron Ward and Andrew Ference. Boston called up a familiar face, Matt Lashoff, to make his second trip to the big club. Rookie defenseman Johnny Boychuck will make his first appearance with the Bruins this season. Both of them will make big contributions in Providence; both will travel with Boston to Florida to take on the Lightning and the Panthers; and both are likely to play in one of the two games.
