As we enter the final quarter of the season, here is a look at which Jets players stocks have been rising and falling over the past few weeks:
Stock is Up
1. Darrelle Revis
The guy has been a legitimate lockdown corner all season long. If he doesn't end up in Hawaii at the end of the year, it is a crime. He won't get challenged by another big name receiver the rest of the regular season, but the Jets will need him to keep it up in the playoffs if they want to go anywhere.
2. Thomas Jones
TJ has been a beast this season, along with being arguably the most consistent player on the team. Right now he has 1088 yards and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry. On top of that, he has 11 rushing touchdowns. He has also been a threat in the passing game, pulling in 27 catches for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you have seen a better running back in the AFC this year, let me know.
3. Leon Washington
He continues to make big plays as a kick returner, wide receiver, and running back. For all the hype around guys like Reggie Bush and Darren Sproles, Washington has been better than them both.
4. D'Brickashaw Ferguson
The best thing for an offensive lineman is when you don't hear too much about him. D'Brick has been much improved in his third year and is playing at a borderline pro-bowl level.
5. Kris Jenkins
I know he was quiet last week, but before that he was on some kind of tear. In crucial games against Buffalo, New England, and Tennessee, Jenkins was a beast.
Stock is Down
1. Bryan Thomas, Calvin Pace, Shaun Ellis
The Jets top three pass rushers have been awfully quiet the past few weeks. It is time to stop using Pace so much in coverage and let him play to his strengths.
2. Kerry Rhodes
I am not saying Rhodes has been playing bad, but the guy really hasn't been much of a playmaker this season. Compared to the last two years, his number of impact plays is way down.
3. Chris Baker
Obviously the emergence of Dustin Keller has limited his looks, but he hasn't done much when the ball is thrown to him. You don't think he would ask for a new contract now, would you?
4. Brad Smith
I keep waiting to see a consistent reason why he is activated and David Clowney is not.
Guys Who Need to Step Up Down the Stretch
1. Ty Law
The Jets need some stability opposite Revis, Law needs to be a competent No. 2 corner for them.
2. Abram Elam
We know he struggles in pass coverage but the guy was making plays every week until the Denver game, he needs to get back on track.
3. Jerricho Cotchery
Cotchery has been a little hot and cold this year. He needs to be consistent and find a way to get into the end-zone more.
