The ACC now has nine bowl tie-ins and ten bowl eligible teams. Word on the street is that will leave N.C. State shopping since sources in the league office claim Clemson’s 6-5 versus bowl—eligibility—determining—teams is better than the Wolfpacks’ 6-6 record against same. But we digress…

There has been some talk that Maryland might play Navy in the new EagleBank Bowl debuting December 20 at good old RFK Stadium. Of course, the match up would make perfect sense for two geographic rivals with fan bases a short drive from D.C.’s historic stadium.
The onther likely ACC candidate for the game is Wake Forest, but the bowl contract precludes a rematch and the Mids have already played and defeated the Demon Deacons.
So that leaves Maryland as the most likely, albeit unwilling, candidate.
For some reason, and perhaps its because the Terps think a new bowl game is beneath a program of their stature (and girth), Maryland has not embraced the idea and claimed it would not be able to play in the game because it’s the last day of exams on the College Park campus.
Navy AD Chet Gladchuk was quick to fire a shot across the Terps' bow saying: “We have exams that week, too, but we're going to show up," Gladchuk said. "Everybody has an excuse why they can't do this or can't do that. We're finding a way to accommodate the bowl's situation."
All ahead, full.

Due to a lack-luster finish The "Terps" will not be playing in a meaningful bowl in the warm part of the country this year. I find it hard to believe that faced with the prospect of the last few bowls that were interested in Maryland ; that they would refuse to play the USNA in Washingtons inaugural bowl game.

I believe its being played at RFK , thats a 7 iron from College Park. That also means they could do this one on the cheap , negligible transportation and hotel rooms .They would use their own trainning table and practice facilities ------players would be on a home game routine for this one.

The weather : I know it could be cold in DC in December but more than likely it will be better than Boise Idaho.

How about thinking about the fans ; the game would be attended by the usual Maryland home game crowd 50,000 plus and the Middies usually get 30,000+ for their home games------Forget RFK book the "Jake" or Redskin Park in landover (I don't know who ponied up for the naming rights this year to Mr Snyder) The majority of Maryland fans do not attend bowl games for various reasons. This DC game is a great opportunity to see them in person.

As a former Terp I cannot see any reason to play in Boise over DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh , I forgot its a 4hour car ride to Sun Valley maybe someone on the athletic department staff skiis. I conceed its better than 7Springs or Deep Creek.
