At UFC 136 from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia put on a battle that could have very well earned them Fight of the Night honors. After such an exciting battle, we need to see these two warriors go to war for a third time.
In there first bout at The Ultimate Fighter season 12 finale, Garcia was awarded a split-decision victory that nearly everyone who watched the bout did not believe he deserved.
When they met for the second time Saturday night, Garcia and Phan once again delivered an epic battle for the ages.
For three rounds, Garcia and Phan went toe-to-toe, nailing each other with huge bombs. Phan got the better of the striking until Garcia hurt him badly early in the third round. Garcia went in for the kill, but Phan was able to withstand the storm, get a takedown and get the fight back under control.
After another grueling 15 minutes, Phan was on the right end of the decision, as it was rightfully scored 29-28 on all three judge's scorecards.
Garcia and Phan have delivered 30 of the most memorable minutes of mixed martial arts action in recent memory. Now that they have split their first two fights, I don't believe anyone would oppose seeing them go at it for another 15 minutes.
In fact, I'm sure most fans would encourage it.
