College Football Rankings 2011: Boise State Should Not Be Ranked Ahead of Oklahoma State, Clemson and Stanford
I’ll admit it, I’ve been one of the biggest Boise State defenders over the last few years, but I have to say, even I can’t make a case for the Broncos being ranked ahead of more deserving schools like Oklahoma State, Stanford and Clemson at this point in the season.
Sure beating up Fresno State 57-7 is nice and all, but what does that really tell us?
Since the beginning of the season, this Boise State team has been riding the momentum of a win over what’s turned out to be a very mediocre Georgia team and they’ve managed to coast to a Top 5 ranking by beating the likes of Toledo, Tulsa and Nevada.
Now to be fair, you can also point fingers at Oklahoma State’s schedule as well as Stanford’s schedule and say hey, what superpowers have those two teams taken down?
That’s definitely fair, but let’s be honest, if you’ve watched the games so far, you can see there’s a talent advantage that those two teams possess over this year’s Broncos.
And then there’s Clemson, who has a much stronger resume than Boise State and who somehow ranks three spots below them in the AP Poll.
I don’t see any way in the world that you can rank Boise State ahead of the Tigers, who have already beaten three ranked teams in their first six games.
