College Football Rankings 2011: Florida Gators and 3 Teams Saying Good-Bye to the USA Today Poll
The new rankings for the USA Today Coaches polls are out with new teams that are either out of the polls for the first time this year, or they have finally fell so far from their preseason ranking that they finally are out of the top 25 of college football, according to the coaches who vote in this poll.
So who fell out the top 25 today? Which team didn’t deserve to fall out this week and which team deserved to get knocked out this week?
The Gators were beaten by Alabama last week then LSU finished the job this week against a depleted Gators offense. First they lost John Brantley in the Alabama game then backup John Driskel against LSU.
They are now out of the top 25 with no chance at getting back into the polls.
Florida State Seminoles
Florida State is like their in-state neighbor the Gators in that their free-fall out of the top 25 polls came when they lost their starting quarterback against Oklahoma. Now after three straight losses, this preseason top 5 team is finally out of the rankings.
Auburn is on the yo-yo style rankings this year. One week they’re a highly rated team, the next week they’re completely out of the polls. This week they’re out of the polls after a loss against Arkansas last week.
