UFC 136 Results: Instant Analysis and Reaction to Stipe Miocic vs. Joey Beltran
UFC 136 was the debut of Stipe Miocic in the UFC heavyweight division. Miocic faced perennial journeyman, Joey Beltran.
The first round Miocic pretty much dominated Beltran and was beating him badly.
The second round, Beltran woke up and started teeing off on Miocic. Both fighters were very awake and throwing shots that landed clean.
Beltran eventually ended the round in an all out brawl with Miocic, but was able to end it with a nice couple of standing elbows.
The third round say Miocic again dominate Beltran on the ground. Miocic just teed off on Beltran at one point and seemingly broke Beltran’s nose. The last ten seconds Beltran was just bleeding all over the place while Miocic had a cut under his left eye.
Miocic took the fight by unanimous decision and won his seventh fight in his career.
Miocic should be tested a little bit more, possibly a fight against Mark Hunt who won at UFC 135 but didn’t look good.
As for Beltran, he lost his third fight in his last four and I don’t know where he would go from here, if the UFC decides to cut him even though I don’t see why.
Beltran should face the lower tier fighters of the heavyweight division even though he shows tremendous heart in his fights. I wouldn’t mind a Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran II.
