Samuel Peter Getting Back On the Scene

Former WBC Heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter, is now considered by most critics as an "exposed" fighter. After losing a one-sided match against Vitali Klitschko, Peter is now looking at his career from a different angle, he is thinking of redemption.

I never jumped in the Peter bandwagon, however, I still see hope for the former champion. He is still young and can still get back on the heavyweight picture. In my opinion, he needs to change two things in his life if he wants to get back on track.

The Nigerian Nightmare is a devout Christian. He doesn't like alcohol and doesn't smoke. However, like James Toney, he has a tendency to eat a lot. It's not a crime but if you want to be a champion, you have to be in fighting form. That's the first thing he needs to change. In his last fight, he weighed 253.5 lbs. He needs to shed it to at least 225 lbs. to maintain his speed and stamina.

Second thing he needs to change is his trainer. Let's face it, Peter lacks skills and some even call him a bum. I don't think he is. I believe that he just needs to polish his skills under a new trainer. Someone that can teach him how to fight "short". At 6'1", he is a short heavyweight.

His defense needs improvement, someone who can teach him how to bob and weave while on the attack. Generally, he needs someone who can discipline him and show him how a great defense can lead to a strong offense.

Again, I'm not a fan of Samuel Peter but I like him as a person. He is a good man. I think he should reinvent himself so that he can win me, and the other boxing aficionados around the world.
