It never ceases to amaze me at the lousy choices the New York Knicks made since Toronto took them out in the first round of the playoffs in 2001.

I lived in NYC for two years. When I first got there, they picked up Stephon Marbury.  They put his face all over town, claiming a savior had arrived.

Heh.

Then Isiah Thomas fired Lenny Wilkens and became their head coach.

Heh.  Heh.

Then they got Zach Randolph.

Triple Heh.

The list of things gone wrong continues.

I used to attend a lot of Knicks’ games.  I once sat six rows from the court!  I saw a Knicks-Pacers’ game, where the crowd all chanted, "Reggie (Miller) sucks!"  And I even attended the late 2004 season game between the Knicks and Blazers, where we (the Knicks) lost by one point on Stoudamire's last second shot at the buzzer (I trash talked the whole arena that night...).

Those losses, and the following loss to Denver, are the reasons Portland has not made the playoffs since 2003.

While I was visiting NYC, I always tried to get this pretty lady (or two) to attend a Knicks game with good seats.  Little did I know that the Knicks were considered the worst ticket in town.

I once heard this joke: "A homeless man sees two tickets to the Knicks on the dashboard of this car.  So what does he do? He breaks the car window, and puts down his two Knicks tickets next to them, then leaves."

But on the other end of the country we have the Portland Blazers, and they are the best ticket in town.

Tonight we made the big fourth quarter shots with the confidence of an action hero going up against his arch nemesis’ foot soldiers.

I hope they booed in NYC tonight.

I Wish I had been at that game. I miss NYC.

Because despite all that I just said, it's still the best city in the world.
