It's been a rough year for Alex Rodriguez.
From a professional standpoint, he battled numerous injuries throughout the long baseball season and when his New York Yankees needed him the most, he went hitless in the American League Division Series, helping the Detroit Tigers to send his club packing.
His personal life wasn't faring much better. Rodriguez was dumped by his girlfriend and Hollywood superstar Cameron Diaz, even after the two were caught coddling each other and she hand-fed him popcorn at the Super Bowl.
Needless to say, 2011 was a year to forget for the Yanks third baseman.
But he's always been the kind of guy to bounce back, be it on the diamond or in his personal life, so why should we expect otherwise? The two kind of play off of each other, and we here at Bleacher Report wanted to give A-Rod a few suggestions to help him step his game up.
Maybe replacing Diaz is the first step on the long road that is a bounce-back season to MVP form. So with that in mind, we've sorted out a few MVP-type hotties that could have Rodriguez playing like a superstar again in no time.
So Elisabetta Canalis couldn't work things out with George Clooney, but let's be honest here—the guy has had a few screws loose ever since he got knocked upside the head a few times playing Batman. When she finally realized that he was bit on the loopy side, and probably wasn't making a return to sanity any time soon, the two split in quite the controversial breakup.
Canalis could use a solid rebound as much as Alex Rodriguez could, so the two are nearly perfect for each other. Canalis spent most of her career as an Italian model, but has also done some work on the big screen in films like Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo and Virgin Territory. She also has a role on the popular American television series, Leverage.
Now competing on Dancing with the Stars, maybe Canalis could help Rodriguez get his level of competition back up to where it should be.
You may not have heard much about Frankie Sandford, but if that's the case, I suggest you go and do something about that as soon as possible. Google awaits.
Sandford is a popular musician from London, and is part of the all-girls group "The Saturdays," who currently have their musical competition in a stranglehold. Sandford has become immensely popular across the sea, and most music critics speculate that it is only a matter of time before she becomes immensely popular in the United States as well.
An English fashion icon, Sandford is just the type of girl that could get the slumping Rodriguez back on his feet, energized and ready to hit the cover off of the ball once again.
Ashley Greene is completely and utterly gorgeous (unless she is playing that dreaded, sparkly vampire in Twilight, but I guess she even makes that look good). In all seriousness, Greene really made a name for herself playing the recurring vampire character Alice Cullen in the Twilight saga, and has risen to unforeseen popularity since.
Her appearance in the series led to a number of other films, and frequent appearances in the media have catapulted her up the rankings of the most beautiful women around. The real question is: How can she help A-Rod?
The life force behind the man's baseball prowess has been sucked dry, and you would think that it would take whatever the opposite of a vampire is to replenish that.
Okay, too dramatic. Let's just say that she is incredibly hot.
Cheryl Cole's career is kind of in a downward spiral right now, and things in general just have not been going her way. After catching Malaria within the last couple of years, Cole recovered to take over as a judge on Simon Cowell's popular British television show, The X-Factor, which was making the transition to American television.
However, after a falling out with Cowell, Cole was canned by Fox and replaced on the show, also being booted from the British version and replaced by Kelly Rowland. So now, she is quasi-unemployed. Luckily, she has an outstanding musical background to fall back on, and is set to release her third studio album.
That said, she could sure use the publicity that dating A-Rod would bring, and he could sure use a girl that looks like she does. I mean, it's not often you have the chance at dating a successful, young, beautiful, British musician—unless you're a member of the New York Yankees named Alex Rodriguez!
You'll have to excuse me for a moment. I'm still trying to figure out how to capture the sheer, natural beauty of Irina Shayk into words.
Nope, can't be done.
Shayk, who is supposedly dating footballer Cristiano Ronaldo right now (but come on, his relationships never last long. Zing!), has become a topic of conversation in the United States ever since gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition back in 2007. Of course, her popularity sky-rocketed after she graced the cover of the 2011 edition.
The first Russian to ever grace that cover, she has also been a topic of controversy and intrigue during her short career. She was featured in the music video for Kanye West's song "Power," and claims that her dog was fathered by one of the labs that played the lead role in Marley and Me.
She's perfect for A-Rod!
If Alex Rodriguez is going to get back into postseason form for the 2012 season, he's going to need a girl with a ton of talent. Nicole Scherzinger has a ton of talent. Aside from being remarkably beautiful, her musical abilities are second to none.
She was the face of one of the most popular all-female groups in the world as the lead singer for the Pussycat Dolls, and has also launched a very successful solo career. Scherzinger's work in the music industry is well respected, leading to a number of other opportunities, like replacing Cheryl Cole as a judge on Simon Cowell's popular singing competition, The X-Factor.
She's also remarkably beautiful, in case I didn't mention that already.
Kelly Brook is another one of those girls that isn't widely known in the United States, but should be. She broke onto the scene modeling for a number of different outlets in Britain, but has since moved on to television and theatrical work, starring in a number of reality series across the sea and films that never quite made it to the States (unless you actually consider Piranha 3-D entertaining, of course.)
Though Brook has been dating Billy Zane for a while, I think we've all learned by now that those relationships can never be taken for granted. Should a popular British talent come to the United States, one of the first people she can encounter would be the likes of Rodriguez, who could certainly benefit by her arrival (like the rest of us).
What better match for a man considered baseball royalty than a woman who was married to the son of an Italian prince until just recently? Incredibly hot and extremely talented, Olivia Wilde has dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland, and her numerous small roles and television appearances early in her career have helped her develop into a full-fledged superstar, with leading roles in Tron: Legacy, The Change-Up and Cowboys & Aliens, among other flicks.
Having risen to an incredible level of popularity over recent years and just recently having completed a divorce, perhaps she and Alex Rodriguez would be good for each other, helping one another to stay at the top of their games (though I'm convinced she needs help from no man).
One thing that Alex Rodriguez has going for him right now is experience. Already with 18 major league seasons under his belt for three different teams, he is a three-time MVP, five-time home run champion and conqueror of the New York media market. (Okay, that's a stretch.) He's been there, done that and if he's going to rely on experience to return to his postseason form, he may be okay.
What A-Rod could really use though is a girl with a bit of experience in her own right, Rihanna. After dating Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp, she has seen firsthand the obligations of dating a Major League Baseball star, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Rihanna has virtually conquered the music industry, taking home more awards than I care to name and making more money than I could probably count to. Now, she is expanding her horizons, starring in the upcoming movie Battleship, which of course, is based off of the classic board game.
Then there was one.
We've narrowed down a selective market to just one finalist, and that woman is none other than the mode-turned-actress, Rose Huntington-Whiteley. Before making her big-screen debut starring alongside Shia LaBeouf in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Whiteley made her name as a model for Victoria's Secret.
After replacing Megan Fox (as the leading female in the Transformers series), could Whiteley possibly replace Cameron Diaz in A-Rod's love life?
The world may never know.
