The tight end position is one position that can make or break your week. You cannot count on the guaranteed production of most tight ends but when it is there then you are golden.
Here are three tight ends that will fold in Week 5.
The Tennessee Titans have been playing well and Cook seems to have found his place in the offense after having two receptions for 93 yards and a TD last wee, including an 80-yard catch and was really impressive.
Do not expect Cook to follow up with another game that is on the same level. He is going to fall off and cannot be counted on to produce the same type of performance even if it is against a Steelers defense that looks like a shell of its former self despite allowing the fewest receiving yards per game of any team in the league (157.5).
If you are a fantasy owner that is on top of injury news then you know that Arizona will more than likely be without Todd Heap. This means one thing: who is his back up?
His back up is Jeff King, who caught five passes for 100 yards and a TD so far this year, but King is not a player that is going to produce for you and fill the tight end hole.
Minnesota is really good at stopping tight end production and picking up King will be a waste of time this week.
Kevin Boss looked good last week against the Patriots, but the Texans are very tough against tight ends.
Boss’s production will be very low this week and more than likely will have you wishing for a different starter.
A lot of people are waiting for Boss to have a break out game with the Raiders but it more than likely is not coming. Boss has not become a favorable outlet for Jason Campbell and this week will be much of the same. He did have four catches for 78 yards last week, but expect him to play more like a 2 catch, 36-yard performance similar to his Week 3 performance against the Jets.
Spare yourself and leave Boss on the bench.
