UFC 136 Results: Stipe Miocic Defeats Joey Beltran by Unanimous Decision
In tonight's final UFC 136 preliminary Facebook bout, Joey "The Mexicutioner" Beltran welcomed undefeated fighter Stipe Miocic to the Octagon, but it would be Miocic who would emerge victorious after three rounds of heavyweight action.
The first round opened with Miocic, who was sporting the Mirko "Cro Cop" trunks, gauging his distance against the all-action brawler. Miocic utilized leg kicks early.
Miocic was able to get Beltran down two minutes into the round, but Beltran used the cage to get back to his feet. Miocic stayed close and worked from inside the clinch until they both broke away with three minutes to go in the round.
The first round was controlled by Miocic for the remaining time. It ended with Beltran looking frustrated against the much more technical striker.
Beltran pressured early in the second round but was taken down easily by Miocic. Beltran was able to get back to his feet after Miocic attempted an Americana submission. Beltran countered Miocic's attack with a takedown and flurry of his own. The crowd cheered as the Mexican unloaded.
Miocic got back to his feet and pressed Beltran up against the cage. A bloodied Beltran attacked the body of Miocic but was taken down quickly after.
The second round ended with Miocic landing flush counter punches to the face of Beltran, who fired back valiantly.
Beltran moved forward in the third round, but a tired Miocic was able to get him against the cage and work from the clinch. Miocic got Beltran down once again, but Beltran was able to spring back to his feet with three minutes to go in the fight.
They battled back-and-forth for the remaining time in the bout, but it was all Miocic, who got Beltran down and into side control.

Miocic gave credit to Beltran for having "a good head" after the fight. He also said he was hard to take down.
All around, it was an impressive showing by Miocic, who improves to 7-0 in his MMA career.
UFC 136 will be headlined by a UFC lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and No. 1 contender Gray Maynard. They last fought to a draw at UFC 125. The pay-per-view begins at 9 p.m. ET.
The event will also host a featherweight title fight between UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and No. 1 contender Kenny Florian. Aldo comes into the bout off his victory over Mark Hominick while Florian was last seen defeating Diego Nunes in his 145 pound debut.
Other main card bouts include Joe Lauzon vs. Melvin Guillard, Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann and Nam Phan vs. Leonard Garcia.
The Spike TV portion of UFC 136 will be broadcast at 8 p.m. ET. It will feature two bouts, including Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago and Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens.
