UFC 136 Weigh-in Results: Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard UFC Lightweight Title
Frankie Edgar (154.5 lbs) vs. Gray Maynard (155 lbs)
Lightweight Title Bout
Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have met twice previously. The first time around Maynard won by unanimous decision and the second time at UFC 125 the two fighters fought to a draw.
Edgar and Maynard were expected to fight at UFC 130 but injuries to both fighters moved the fight all the way til now.
They both have a hatred for each other having thought about each other for the last year now. Edgar rallied back in their last fight after Maynard pummeled him in the first round with vicious blows that rocked Edgar at least four times.
Now the two meet again and this time the UFC lightweight division will finally have a true champion and the logjam in the division will become unclogged.
Maynard walked out to weigh in first and received applause from the Houston crowd. Maynard then weighed in at 155 pounds for his lightweight title bout.
Edgar then walked out to a really warm reception from the crowd and proceeded to weigh in. Edgar weighed in at 154.5 pounds.
The two then stared down and gave each other a cold stare.
Maynard then told UFC color commentator Joe Rogan that he would claim the title tomorrow night.
Edgar then said he was all about "the anti-bully movement" and that he was ready to fight.
