Looking attractive has always been extremely important for stylish football WAGs. But their attraction has not always been the main source behind their success and popularity.
As is the case in many different areas, one often has to get in the spotlight in order to get some attention in entertainment. For football WAGs, the strategy is no different.
A rich, popular and successful footballer obviously comes as the perfect opportunity to step into the world of fame. Certainly, the point in this article is not to question the love and worth of the wives of top football players. Conversely, we look at the "lucky" women who turned out to be the right match of some of England’s top players.
Eventually for many, the combination of attraction and integrity definitely plays a major role when it comes to their rankings. Although the following slides may seem to be ordered based on few criteria, no specific reasons can explain the position of each WAG.
For the reader's information, this list does not only concern wives of members of the Three Lions.
Coleen Rooney
Born in April 1986 in Liverpool, Coleen Rooney is the wife of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney. She is the eldest of her family, which got expanded after the adoption of sick sister Rosie.
Coleen Rooney became a WAG after she married the English striker in 2008, and a year later, she turned into a mother after giving birth to baby boy Kai at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Although the renowned couple were anticipated to break up late in 2010 following the "Wayne Rooney scandal," speculations ended with the young wife finally discarding a possible divorce.
Coleen Rooney is on her way to building a great career in the fashion world, having already featured in British Vogue and worked with top brands including HarperCollins and ASDA. Together with her husband and son, she lives in a £4 million mansion in Cheshire.
Abbey Clancy
Abbey Clancy is the wife of English forward Peter Crouch. Just like Coleen Rooney, Abigail Clancy is the eldest in her family. She gained a great deal of attention when she went all the way to the final of the 2006 Britain’s Next Top Model competition.
Her loss to Lianna Fowler did not prevent her from getting contracts with Arena, the Daily Mail, Esquire and other big fashion brands.
Abbey Clancy, who also has some experience presenting on TV, gave birth to her daughter Ruby in March 2011 and married Crouch in June the same year.
Alex Curran
Alex Curran is another English model—wife of Liverpool superstar Steven Gerrard.
The former nail technician and current columnist was born in September 1982, and began her relationship with the English midfielder back in 2002.
The couple married in 2007; though by that time, Alex Curran had already given birth to two daughters named Ella and Lexie. She is now expecting a third baby, who is likely to complete her family.
Victoria Beckham
Being the first English soccer WAG to have worldwide recognition, the wife of football icon David Beckham has a great advantage. Born in April 1974, Victoria Beckham began her journey to eminence with the all-female group Spice Girls.
Huge attainments followed, and Victoria soon accepted the challenge of a solo career. Unable to find the success she had with "the girls," her writing career somehow happened to be more encouraging.
Over the years, she has continued to cement her place as a prominent figure in the fashion industry, having associated herself with great names such as Maria Grachvogel, Rocawear, Roberto Cavalli and Vogue magazine.
Victoria Beckham has three sons named Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James and Cruz David. She recently gave birth to baby girl Harper Seven.
