According to Alyson Footer from Astros.com, the Houston Astros have signed Mike Hampton, physical pending. The numbers of the deal haven't been released but it is rumored that Hampton signed a one-year, $2 million deal with $2 million in incentives.
If those are the actual contract numbers, I for one think it is a good signing.
Other Stros Tid Bits
Houston picked up Tyler Lumsden from the Royals for what ended up being J.R. House.
Houston has slowed down talks with Randy Wolf which could mean a pending trade (or a Mike Hampton signing).
Houston has been said to be shopping Ty Wigginton and Jose Valverde. The Indians are said to be interested in Wiggy and the Mets in Valverde.
Maybe the Astros can find someone dumb enough to give them some prospects for Miguel Tejada. Wouldn't that be a nice Christmas present?
