Boston Bruins vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Adam McQuaid Sick, Misses Practice
Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid did not participate in Wednesday's practice, the team's final one before they open the 2011-12 NHL season Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
"He's still sick," said Bruins coach Claude Julien after practice, who mentioned McQuaid is battling some sort of flu or bug. "He's getting better. Tomorrow we'll say he's a possibility."
Julien also noted that McQuaid came to the Garden, but was not put on the ice for the practice. He also missed past of yesterday's practice because he was not feeling well.
McQuaid became a valuable part of the Bruins defense last season, earning a bigger role on the team, and played many meaningful minutes in the playoffs, especially in the Stanley Cup Finals.
His physical play suits the Bruins perfectly.
This summer McQuaid signed a new three year contract that will start at the beginning of the 2012-13 season.
Check back with this blog tomorrow when the official determination of McQuaid's status for the Flyers game is made by the team.
