The North Carolina Tar Heels took a perfect 6-0 record into today's game against UNC Asheville. A team that had played North Carolina pretty close last year could not make the same statement this year.

The absence of big man Kenny George has plagued Asheville so far this year, as they came into today's action with a 3-3 clip. North Carolina walked away with a convincing win as they punished UNC Asheville 116-48.

Thats right, a 68-point difference. Coming into the game, Asheville was very relieved to see that Hansbrough was not playing.

After the game, they said the same thing, knowing that if he played, it might have been a 90-point game.

The Tar Heels held a 53-19 halftime lead and completed their historic performance by running off 63 second-half points while holding the Bulldogs to just 48 total points.

Ty Lawson led the Tar Heels with 22 points and was followed in double digits by Green, Thompson, Davis, and Ellington. Davis also grabbed a game high 10 rebounds. Asheville was led by three scorers who each contributed eight points.

The Tar Heels will resume action Wednesday against the sixth-ranked Spartans of Michigan State. Hansbrough is expected to play.
