  • From the clues below, can you guess what my name is?

  • I was born in England during a 1950's summer and began my football career at the age of 18 for the club where I was born.
  • When I was 20, I began playing for Brian Clough.
  • My England career started at the age of 22, with much political issue.
  • At international level, competition for my preferred position came from a Leeds United captain and also from a great Liverpool FC right-sided player.

  • I won my second European medal with my club by helping to beat Hamburg in Madrid
  • I made my World Cup debut in a qualifier against Norway
  • Even though I was in the England squad that got knocked out of the second group stage of the World Cup Finals; I never kicked a competitive ball
  • A £250,000 transfer to a London club saw my England career back on track with six consecutive caps between 1984 and 1985

  • I scored my first international goal in a World Cup qualifier that saw England score eight past Turkey with no reply
  • I travelled to my second World Cup, but once again never kicked a competitive ball
  • I scored my second of only two international goals against Yugoslavia in a European Cup qualifier
  • I won the League Cup before a £250,000 transfer to a Manchester based club, where I became one of the first signings by my new manager

  • My 30th and final international cap was against Columbia in a Rous Cup game
  • My next move was to a Sheffield based club on a free transfer—unfortunatly, I missed their Cup Final victory over Manchester United
  • I helped my new club to a seventh place finish in the Premiership, captaining some of the games
  • We also made it to an FA Cup and League Cup final; but we lost on both occasions, to a team I used to play for

  • My next transfer saw me become the player-manager of a club, north of Sheffield
  • A year later, I moved on and became the assistant manager at a North-eastern club. Working under an old team mate, we managed to establish the club in the Premiership
  • Even though I retired from football in 1994, I played two games during the 1994-95 season, when the club was faced with a serious injury crisis
  • I left my assistant managers post when I was 45 and have not been employed in football since

  • What is my name?

Ah I can't remember exactly who! It's either Viv Anderson or Des Walker. I'm going for Viv Anderson because of the "My England career started at the age of 22, with much political issue—despite Ron Greenwood saying there was no political issue" clue!

Haha I know mate but as this was my first article on the new series I was a little disapointed that it was gotten so quickly.

As you know my second effort was a little harder, and hopefully my third one will be a damn site more harder to get.

Thanks for the comments joe and for the fan add, very much appreciated as always
