After suffering through a five game losing streak the Buffalo Sabres made it two wins in a row tonight against the high powered Pittsburgh Penguins.

The stage was set for Buffalo in their own arena and coming off a nice Thanksgiving holiday break. The only issue was how could Buffalo contain the likes of Crosby and Malkin.

Tyler Kennedy put the Pens ahead 1-0 in the first period. But just 56 seconds later Drew Stafford came from the bowels of obscurity to tie the game at one. Pittsburgh played a nice opening period keeping Buffalo to only shooting shots from both wings and not allowing to much action in front of rookie goaltender John Curry.

uffalo as well played a very solid opening 20 minutes controlling most of the action and keeping extended periods of pressure in the opposing end. The only downside to Buffalo's game through one were penalties. And a couple of the worst kind undisciplined and lazy penalties.

Second period started and Buffalo seemed to lose a bit of their edge they had in the first but managed to keep the game within striking distance. But before that would happen Buffalo would take a 2-1 lead on a goal by another player who needs to step up in a big way Paul Gaustad.

Goose netted his first of the season on the power play. And like the first period then the penalties started for Buffalo. In the last 4:41 of the period Buffalo took three penalties.

That is all Sidney Crosby would need as he netted the next two for Pittsburgh to give the Pens the 3-2 lead going into the second intermission. Neither of Crosby's goals were on the power play but one was a direct result of having to play short handed for and extended period of time.

The Pens had the table set in the third for them. All they had to do is lock it down on defesne and the gane was theirs for the taking. But buffalo would not allow that. The Sabres controlled most of the third period out shooting Pittsburgh 10-3 in the last frame.

And once again it was Drew Stafford and Paul Gaustad to the rescue. Stafford scored first in the last period to tie the game at three.

Goose would finish off the scoring and net the game winner with less than four minutes to play in the third period. Buffalo skated off the ice winners of two in a row and looking to make it three in a row  Saturday night as they travel to Montreal to play the division rival Canadiens.
