Yankees Could Increase Sabathia Offer
The Yankees made CC Sabathia a $140 million offer, one they thought he couldn’t refuse and ultimately hasn’t accepted. Now they are debating on whether to increase that offer.
The Yankees would make such a move if the Angels, who have been expected to make Sabathia an offer, came close or matched the Bombers bid according to Ken Davidoff of Newsday.
Newday’s source did not mention how much the Yankees were thinking of increasing the offer to, but it would have to be enough to overcome any West Coast discount the lefty would give the Angels. This announcement could be a tactic to keep the Angels as well as the Giants and the Dodgers from making a formal offer.
This does prove that the Yankees are desperate for the 28-year-old California native and will stop at nothing to get him.
